How come when i switch from windowed to a full screen there is a performance drop? In windowed mode i get up to 70 fps but in full screen no more than 40. What is the cause?

Do you have the same resolution in windowed mode as in fullscreen mode? If not the problem is probably that your program is fillrate limited on your current card and it is slower since more pixels have to be drawn.

If the chicago app has an identical rez both in full screen and in windowed mode than so does mine. I haven`t changed any code responsible for that.

I have also tested my apps on another computer that runns an nvidia 6800 (i believe) gpu. And also it has a performance drop (from 350 to 200)

No, the resolution is usually different. In windowed mode it is 800x600 and in fullscreen it is the res of your desktop, so probably 1280x1024. I have just checked that and I don't see any difference between windowed and fullscreen mode when the resolution is the same.

This is something you can do with the windows API. NeHe has some nice tutorials which show how to do this.
