Post subject:  Double Precision Support

Hey there,

Just joined the group in the hopes of finding a new engine for my company. We're involved in train simulators. I'm curious does H3D support double precision transforms?
We're dealing in Lat/Long. Thanks

No it doesn't support as far as I know. Support for the double precision floats is introduced with OpenGL 4 and capable hardware. You should look for OpenGL 4 based graphics engines supporting double precision floats, and you might need to modify them to use double instead of float in case they don't use it by default.

Maybe we could introduce that as a compile time configuration option. As uniform functions are already function pointers it shouldn't make too much work. Just a guess, haven't searched the source code for possible issues.

I'm in favor. It would certainly give more value to those of us in the sim industry, especially since the focus is already on crowd simulation.

Reviving this topic 3 years later. Any change on this??

I will be updating the engine for OpenGL 4 support in a few months and will add double precision support. But currently I cannot give any guarantees when it will be implemented.
