Post subject:  Recommendations for learning

I'm just getting started with Horde3D and 3D graphics in general, and was wondering if anybody could offer some pointers. I know I'm in way over my head, but that's kind of the point.

Believe me, I am googling furiously and have been inspecting / toying with the samples -- I'm not asking you to do my work for me. But sometimes there's that one book or resource that really unlocks everything... any more experienced persons feel like sharing? :D

Right now I feel like me major weak spots are GLSL and 3D math/linear alg. GLSL I'm starting to get a grip with, but I could really use a recommendation for a math-oriented 3D graphics book.

Thanks!
-- and kudos on an awesome engine, I love the simplicity/elegance.

if you have already some basic knowledge about linear algebra, I would suggest
"3D Game Engine Design - A practical approach to real-time computer graphics" by David H. Eberly

For the 3D math aspect, ive just bought this book wich explain very well all the basic to make a 3D game engine.

Ive bought this book too and it seems to be a really great book to learn about GLSL.

Thanks, I was wondering about that book for GLSL. Will check out the other recommendations.

this one on math I would say covers most of what you would want.

Unfortunally, I haven't found a GLSL equivalent of "The Cg Tutorial" yet. So... if you're anything like me "the orange book" sucks. :(

Although no book, this is a great introductive tutorial to GLSL shader programming. It also covers the OpenGL API for shaders which you usually don't need since Horde is doing all that for you. The more interesting parts are the basics and examples.

Ive read this one, and I found its more a reference book than a book to learn.

The math book wich ive talked about in my first reply here dont cover a lot of topic but it explain them very well with a lot of example in c++.

I found this a while ago and agree that it is an excellent intro. I've been meaning to import some of the examples into Horde to play with but I started working on framework stuff instead, ie states, actor objects, events.

Thanks again for the tips!
