Since by now more people are typing horde3d in google than directly using the nextgen-engine.net address we thought it would be a good idea to register a new domain for the project. The Horde3D website is now also available via www.horde3d.org

We plan to move the project to sourceforge next month and then horde3d.org will become a shortcut for the sf location. The older nextgen-engine.net address will of course still be available for some time.

We hope you enjoy having a shorter and easier to remember link address :)

We will probably soon upgrade the forum to phpbb3 and add a wiki. So don't be confused if the forum will be down for some time.

As you can (hopefully) see ;), we have upgraded to phpBB3. It should be possible now to use attachments for posts. Furthermore we have already installed a wiki and connected it to the user database. It will be activated later. The style of the forums is not yet final. I would like to have some more orange again but it didn't look too good with the automatically generated template:

The wiki is also available now. You can find it at

http://www.horde3d.org/wiki

The content is still very lean, so don't hesitate to fill it with something useful :)

As mentioned before, you can use your forum login to edit wiki pages.

I'm happy if the wiki will be filled with content, so don't hesitate to do that! :)

The wiki is a really nice idea. I hope that a lot of people will work on it! Maybe someday I'll try to write about a topic(Like using ODE with horde3d) but I don't feel ready to do this and I don't have time now.

Hi,

Added some style to the front page and community portal, also extensions. Added a couple of templates, and categories but much more needs to be done. Hope you like the new style.

Added the Extension Summary template, here is how you use it:
Code:
[[category: Extensions]]

{{Extension_Summary|
name = Terrain Extension|
image = http://www.horde3d.org/screenshots/terrain.jpg|
description = The Terrain Extension extends Horde3D with the capability to render large landscapes.|
version = 0.1.0|
author = Nicolas Schulz and Volker Wiendl|
released = 2008-03-30|
horde3dversion = 0.15|
}}

Fell free to add more fields and better styling. Here is the list of Templates
http://www.horde3d.org/wiki/index.php5? ... dtemplates

I only added a couple because I am a bit divided between using html tags <divs> and wikimarkup for the templates, let me know what you all think about this issue, so we can build a good library of templates in a unified style. I am using wikimarkup for the time being since it is usually considered best practice.

One administrative issue: It would be nice to be able to upload images/screenshots. You can create a group of trusted users that can upload files or allow external images (not recommended). As is that template does not import the image, and the template is incomplete.

I think i will do some more styling work during the weekend.

I really like the new style. Good job!

Unfortunately I'm not very familiar with all this wiki stuff and currently don't have time to contribute.

Glad you like it :)

You and Nicolas keep doing the development work. We need a good/solid engine and editor!

I have been doing wiki edition for a very long time, i have actually written entire books on MediaWiki, and managed a wiki for David Perry. This new style should be completed during the weekend. I will write a couple of short tutorials on how to use the templates, so everybody can use them with confidence. Wiki is strange at first but then it becomes second nature.

I am still waiting for grant results, they have been postponed twice :oops: before i commit to doing the OpenGL ES port, and more work on Horde3D.

I am going to wikify the linked articles (the html documentation) that are on the first couple of sections, so they can be edited more easily. I will also tag the transcribed documentation with "official documentation" category.

Nice!

I write a decent article, but I need to learn more before I have much to say. :lol:
I will try to flesh out the Linux sections as I find time.

In case you wondered that the forums looked wrong for some hours: We had some problems coming from the setup of the redirect from nextgen-engine.net to horde3d.org, but now everything is working as expected. Sorry for the inconveniences.

Post subject:  Re: Website updates: horde3d.org

As promised, I crated a new style for the wiki. It requires certain extensions that are not installed on Horde3D.org wiki for the time being. So i am using my own mock wiki. Check it out, please comment, and play with it.

Mock Horde3D Wiki
http://www.danielmd.net/wiki/index.php?title=Main_Page

I am undecided about leaving the gallery on top, or bottom. or keeping it at all in the main page. :?:

marciano is on a journey, so getting the wiki to look like this may be a couple of weeks away (the changes needed are very small, can be done in 5 minutes, it's just bad timing :P ). Please use the current Horde3D wiki for content, i will port your articles to the new style once it becomes available.

Thank your for your attention, and fell free to play with the mock wiki as much as you want. Just be sure you add comments to the changes you submit.

Just wanted to say: This looks really nice.

Unfortunately I don't have access to the server of the wiki so I couldn't help you configuring the extensions. We have to wait until Nicolas will be online again.
