Post subject:  Some difficulties with building on Linux

As google has turned up squat, I figured I might as well ask.

When building the demos (Horde and the utility library appear to build fine) I get "cannot find file lxrandr"

Googling I can see that lxrandr is pretty commonly used but there's far too many "error" posts with "-lxrandr" that don't pertain directly to it for me to get a lick of information about what lxrandr even is. I'm using Suse 10.1 and have every available development package installed (from the installation disk).

Since lxrandr looks so common I'm assuming that I'm missing something obvious.

Does anyone know what lxrandr is and what it's a part of (I assume if I can at least can figure out that much that I can get it sorted out).

Seems like it is something from the X-server http://www.x.org/wiki/Projects/XRandR
But I'm not very familiar with building linux applications (always the trial-and-error way), so I have no idea why you may need it to compile Horde.

XRandR is needed by the GLFW framework.

But my Linux knowledge is also very limited so might be there is a way to get rid of that dependency?

What version of Linux are you running?

I've recently installed and run the demos on Ubuntu 7.04 without any hassles. The demos initially wouldn't run, complaining about being unable to load the shadow map I think. But when I tried again next next day after rebooting, everything was fine...
