Post subject:  Soft Shadows not displaying?

I apologize if this is a dumb question....but after running the Horde3D demo etc. and playing the Chicago Demo the characters shadow display blocky and looks pixelated. Am I missing something or do I need to download something else? Thanks in adavnce.

You are right, currently the shadows are only looking good when viewed from some distance. That is still a problem, some sort of perspective adaption or cascaded shadow maps will fix that. Anatoly from the forums was working on that but I don't know if his code will ever be released due to some legal issues with the company he is working for.

Unfortunately I have to work on some more urgent places in the engine at first before I can come back to make a nicer looking shadow implementation.

Thanks :)

BTW, in case you didn't notice, the shadows in the new version 0.8 are looking less blocky now and the performance has improved dramatically. More advanced techniques will be implemented in upcoming releases.
