It seems like the new resource's _refCount is the same as the original's _refCount.

in egGeometry.cpp

Code:
Resource *GeometryResource::clone()
{
   GeometryResource *res = new GeometryResource( "", _flags );

   *res = *this; //this copies each member (_refCount too)

// I've added this to solve the problem
   res->_refCount = 0;
