Kudos for try decentralized repo :).

Want to see a project using pull request? https://github.com/mesos/spark/pulls sure each git repo in github will have that Web interface available.

Be sure to get the idea from github https://help.github.com/categories/63/articles see that the command line for is described here https://raw.github.com/git/git/master/D ... in-git.txt

Also you can try a "disposable repo" not source code related which people can clone/modify and do pull request and comment a large pull request... like some pages... or a poem... for get the idea ;) and not have the "strain" for a first step :)... also remember there is always the #git IRC channel on freenode ;)... if you are having problems... I suppose there exist a #github too.

Regarding the issue management, I propose to close the "Bug Reports" forum here, move all the threads to the "Support" forum (for archive purposes) and start to use the Issue Management tool on GitHub.

I currently don't agree. I can see the benefits of a bug tracking system, but still like the more opened discussion here in the forum, that also allows people to search within several hundreds of post when having a problem, that might be a bug, but also something that has been asked maybe in the support forum already.

For that reason I proposed to move all the threads to the "Support" forum.

I think that an unique forum could help users to find the solution to their problems faster.

I agree that the discussion could be stay on the forum, using the issue management for the strictly "technical" discussion related to the resolution of the bug from the code point of view.

Regarding Git I just found SourceTree for managing Git repos. Although it seems to me much more complicated to handle all the branching, merging stuff in comparison to SVN and just handling patches send in by the community, it is at least the best GUI for Git I found so far.

Other more simplistic git GUI: http://mac.github.com/ and http://windows.github.com/ there is no linux in there as today. It only show branches, working copy, history and have a merge view (but you dont have a blame, or "git-flow", or apply create a patch [under actions] on GUI like with sourcetree).

Regarding the git repo management, I propose to create an organization on GitHub (i.e. Horde3DTeam, or something like that) and pass the ownership of the repo to it:

https://github.com/blog/674-introducing-organizations

It's a completely free feature for public open-source projects like Horde3D.

So you can then add contributors and give them more permissions, so we can speed up development, improve the contribution workflow and avoid bottlenecks.
