Additional RenderTarget formats
In addition to the currently supported RenderTarget formats (RGBA8, RGBA16F and RGBA32F), it would be very helpful for performance of some algorithms if 2-component formats where also supported: LA8, LA16F, LA32F (for instance).

1-dimensional formats (L8, L16F and L32F) perform very badly on many cards, but they also might be useful to save memory on cards where they are fully supported.

Additional RenderTarget formats

Thanks for the proposition, that's no problem to add.

NVidia has a list of supported texture formats:
http://developer.nvidia.com/object/nv_ogl_texture_formats.html

I'm not aware of something similar for ATI but since most of the formats are coming from an ATI OGL extension I think they should have broad support.
