Hello! I am new to Horde, and I love to use Irc channels, horde does not have a irc channel? If not I suggest creating one at irc.freenode.net :)

Hello, I am the leader of a very massive project that uses Horde3D technology. I am also a OP in this channel that you claim is dead which is a false claim. I feel this post should become a sticky so people can know that this irc channel exists so that we can try and offer live support to developers in this community. Come in and see what the channel is about. The channel is on irc.freenode.net and is in #horde3d so see you there! :D

The channel should be advertised on the main page, or this thread should be sticked, no?
Btw: The channel really helps! I commented on other topic that some problems got solved there :)

Yes the channel is open for business. We now have usually more than half a dozen users at all times. :D

It's great to see Horde3D community grow. Tell your friends ppl!!! The more eyes and hands we have on board, more are mutually benefited by bug fixes and new features. Improved the quality will be!

While having an IRC Channel for chatting is great, I would prefer if technical things and questions are discussed in the forum because this way we get some kind of archive and can make some kind of FAQ in the wiki some day. Just my two cents.

I agree. The channel is more for community bounding and solving certain issues (help get started, linking errors, compiler and platform configuration difficulties, small stuff like that...). For any serious discussion (like adding a new extension, shader creation and testing, etc...) the forum is much better, and for archiving the conclusions of the discussions the wiki is perrrfect.

Marciano is currently on the GC in Leipzig and has no internet access. But as I mentioned before I prefer using the forum.

To make an update in terms of #horde3d. The channel has been attended fairly well in the last couple of months. But as usual in IRC be prepared for a long idle time, and don't mind that CIA bot ;)

cheers

It's pretty dead, with tyically '6 users, though I have gotten help here and there which is all that matters.
The forums aren't really much more lively, compared to other free open source engines like ogre3d. That is truly sad, as this engine/editor combo has a lot going for it. We
aren't all cracker jack programmers with self enabled skill sets ;)

It's difficult to continue putting in time on a nice engine, when there is little support to be had, but I continue to try for now.

cheers
